Smothered Pork Chop Casserole (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 4 bone-in pork chops, approximately 1-inch thick
02 - Salt to taste
03 - Pepper to taste
04 - 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
05 - 1 large onion, thinly sliced
06 - 3 cloves garlic, minced
07 - 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
08 - 1 1/2 cups milk
09 - 1 cup chicken broth
10 - 2 pounds potatoes, thinly sliced
11 - 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
12 - 1 teaspoon paprika
13 - Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
02 - Season pork chops on both sides with salt and pepper.
03 - Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and brown the pork chops on both sides. Remove and set aside.
04 - In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium and cook onions and garlic until translucent.
05 - Sprinkle flour over the onion mixture, stirring constantly to create a roux.
06 - Gradually add milk and chicken broth, stirring until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat.
07 - In a large casserole dish, layer half the sliced potatoes. Pour half the onion sauce over the potatoes and sprinkle with half the cheese.
08 - Repeat with remaining potatoes, sauce, and cheese. Sprinkle paprika over the top.
09 - Place browned pork chops on top of the casserole. Cover with foil and bake for 1 hour.
10 - Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until pork is fully cooked and potatoes are tender.
11 - Let the casserole rest for 10 minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
