Air Fryer Mozzarella Sticks (Print Version)

Crispy, golden mozzarella sticks with gooey centers, made healthier in the air fryer for the perfect quick snack or appetizer.

# Ingredients:

→ Cheese

01 - 16 mozzarella string cheese sticks

→ Breading Station

02 - ½ cup all-purpose flour
03 - 2 large eggs
04 - 1 tbsp milk
05 - 1¼ cups Italian-style breadcrumbs
06 - ½ tsp garlic powder
07 - ½ tsp onion powder
08 - ¼ tsp salt
09 - ¼ tsp black pepper
10 - ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

# Steps:

01 - Cut each string cheese stick in half to make 16 shorter sticks.
02 - Place flour in one shallow bowl. In a second bowl, whisk eggs with milk. In a third bowl, mix breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and Parmesan (if using).
03 - Dip each cheese stick into the flour, then the egg mixture, then coat in breadcrumbs. Repeat egg and breadcrumb steps for a second coating to ensure thorough coverage.
04 - Arrange coated sticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Freeze for at least 1 hour or until completely solid.
05 - Preheat air fryer to 390°F (200°C) for 3 minutes.
06 - Place frozen sticks in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Work in batches if necessary. Air fry for 5–6 minutes until golden and just starting to ooze.
07 - Serve hot with marinara or your favorite dipping sauce.

# Notes:

01 - Double-coating helps prevent cheese from leaking out during cooking.
02 - Don’t skip freezing — it’s essential for keeping the cheese inside.
03 - Try with different cheeses like pepper jack or cheddar for variation.
